Fines relating to green slip claims
Dear NSW Office of State Revenue,
I wish to know what is the ratio of incidents involving green slip claims that drivers are prosecuted for and how much.
In particular:
1. The number of offences people where prosecuted for incidents resulting in green slip claims.
2. If 1 is not available the number of prosecuted for offences that would ordinarily result in road related injury.
3. The total fines collected
It would be helpful if the above are available for a recent year that matches the reference below.
I have seen the following reference: https://www.greenslips.com.au/interestin... which answers the green slip claims but I can not find data relating it to the fines.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Williamson

Dear Mr Williamson
I am writing in response to your below email regarding fines relating to
green slip claims.
The information you have requested is not held by Revenue NSW so it has
been referred to the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) for
response.
Under section 3.37 the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017, injured drivers
who have committed a serious driving offence that was related to the motor
accident are not entitled to statutory benefits.
As a result, injured drivers who are prosecuted for a serious driving
offence cannot make a green slip claim for their injury.
I trust that this answers your questions, however if you have any further
queries please don’t hesitate to contact me on 9289 1331 or by email at
[email address]
Thanks
