Data relating to 'good news' section on website homepage
Dear Australian Broadcasting Corporation,
I would like to see briefing documents that lead to the creation of the 'good news' section on the ABC news homepage.
I would like the most up-to-date information comparing page views of the 'good news' section and the 'just in' section, as well as the trends and data for the reasons that lead to the creation of this 'good news' section.
Please treat this as an informal request if possible. Thank you for your time.
Yours faithfully,
Tahnie Cristini
Dear Ms Cristini
Thank you for your email, which has been referred to ABC Audience and Consumer Affairs for response. I apologise for the oversight that caused the delay in responding to your email.
I am awaiting further comment from the ABC News Online department, however I thought that I would update you with advice received thus far. ABC News Online have advised that the "Good News" section encompasses part of a project currently under way called "Broadening the News". This aims to balance ABC News Online with interesting, positive content during times of 'harder' news content.
If you are unsatisfied with the information that you ultimately receive in regards to this enquiry, you can make an FOI request at https://www.oaic.gov.au/freedom-of-infor....
To make an FOI request you must:
- make the request in writing (many agencies have forms on their websites)
- state that it is an application for the purposes of the FOI Act
- provide information about the document(s) you want, to help the agency or minister identify them
- give details about how notices can be sent to you (this can include an email address)
- send your request to the agency or minister by either posting it or delivering to the address specified in the telephone directory, or sending it to the email or fax address.
You do not need to give any reasons why you want the documents.
Thank you for your patience regarding this matter. I will provide further information when it becomes available.
Yours sincerely
Matthew Galvin
