Statistics regarding death rate of online compliance targets
Dear Department of Human Services,
Please treat this as a formal request for documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
I request the following information relating to the Online Compliance Intervention ("OCI") initiative. This is the initiative to match Centrelink data with data from the Australian Tax Office ("ATO") to detect potential over-payment and the recovery of those over-payments.
It has recently been stated in the media and senate hearings that in excess of 200,000 letters have been sent under the OCI.
1. How many people are now marked as deceased, dead or any other synonym used to describe no longer living that have been sent any letter under the OCI, at any time since July 1 2016?
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Masting
Dear Department of Human Services,
It should also be noted that in the event people are marked as deceased by some other method such as a date of death or boolean, whether it be numeric or alpha in nature, this was intended to be included in the request.
Essentially, I am seeking the number of people who have been marked as deceased, by any means used by DHS, who have been sent a letter under the OCI between July 1 2016 and the present (April 11 2017).
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Masting
Dear Department of Human Services,
Also: I further contend that this information is in the substantial public interest, and request that any fees be waived.
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Masting
