Private use of social media advice provided to employees
Dear Disability Employment Services Reference Group,
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
I request documents related to the ten most recent instances where an employee has sought information, advice, guidance, or opinion on their social media use in a private capacity.
I limit the scope of documents to:
- the original request from the employee
- the agency/department's response
- any follow-up questions and response
- only those sent to a relevant HR / conduct / social media (or similar) team (rather than managers across all areas of the organisation)
- where the original request was created in the last 2 years
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours faithfully,
James Smith

Dear Mr Smith
I refer to your correspondence of 8 August 2017 addressed to the
Disability Employment Services Reference Group.
In that correspondence, you requested access to the following documents
under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act):
…the ten most recent instances where an employee has sought information,
advice, guidance, or opinion on their social media use in a private
capacity. I limit the scope of documents to:
- the original request from the employee
- the agency/department's response
- any follow-up questions and response
- only those sent to a relevant HR / conduct / social media (or similar)
team (rather than managers across all areas of the organisation)
- where the original request was created in the last 2 years
Under section 11(1)(a) of the FOI Act:
…every person has a legally enforceable right to obtain access in
accordance with this Act to a document of an agency…
The Disability Employment Services Reference Group is not an agency as
defined in section 4 of the FOI Act and therefore your request is not a
valid FOI request under the FOI Act. In any event, I note that the
Disability Employment Services Reference Group is no longer in existence.
I note that you have made a similar request to the Department of Social
Services (the Department). This request is valid and is currently being
processed.
Kind regards
FOI Team
