Dear Patrick,
I actually just asked that *you* request an extension *if* you *require* it, so that *I* could consider your request for an extension extension and decide whether or not to give my permission.
I didn’t personally request you extend the deadline. The FOI Act doesn’t give applicants that power. I would certainly prefer you meet the original deadline of August 30th, and I think it’s safe to assume that all applicants would prefer their documents without delay and sooner rather than later.
I just wanted to send a reminder to help y’all out, considering the agency’s well documented history of just letting the initial 30 day deadline pass, without any notification of delay or request for additional time taking place, which then jeopardises the applicants right to internal review.
Nevertheless, I note that your email is implying that you are actually requesting an extension now, and that my reminder worked. As such, I now give my consent for an extension of 30 days until the 29th of September.
Kind regards,
Emily Lacey
Dear Emily
I apologise for my confusion; in re-reading your email you did ask us to
make an extension request if required.
I advise that it will be required and thank you for providing consent to
the 30-day extension till 29 September 2024.
I again apologise for the delay in providing a decision.
Kind regards

Dear Patrick,
Thank you. I know you guys are a relatively small team, and you're doing your best. But I have 7 requests pending right now, and 5 of them are overdue by between 1-4 weeks and that just kinda sucks.
I hope this next week is a fruitful one for us all.
Kind regards,
Emily Lacey
