Number of full age pensioners under 80 yrs of age, and the number of those receiving the benefit of the Age Pensioners Work Bonus.

Ria Smit made this Freedom of Information request to Social Security Appeals Tribunal

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Social Security Appeals Tribunal should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Social Security Appeals Tribunal,

I am making a request under the Freedom of Information Legislation, to obtain the data that will show me, in the years July 2012 to June 2015, how many pensioners, under the age of 80yrs, there were in Australia receiving the full age pension.

I would also like to receive the data for the same period, as to how many of the above mentioned pensioners actually benefitted from the Age Pension Work Bonus (max. $6500 per year).

Yours faithfully,

(Miss) Ria Smit

Dear Miss Smit

Notice of Transfer of Freedom of Information Request

I refer to your request for access to documents under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).  We received your request on 9 November
2016 and the 30 day statutory period for processing your request commenced
from the day after that date.  You have requested access to:

·        Data that will show, in the years July 2012 to June 2015, how
many pensioners, under the age of 80yrs, there were in Australia receiving
the full age pension; and

·        Data for the same period, as to how many of the above mentioned
pensioners actually benefitted from the Age Pension Work Bonus (max. $6500
per year).

The information that you have requested is not held by the Administrative
Appeals Tribunal I have therefore arranged for your request to be
transferred to the Department of Social Services (the department) under
subsection 16(1) of the FOI Act, on the basis that the department has
portfolio responsibility for age pension and, as such, the subject matter
of the request is more closely connected with the functions of the
department.

An FOI officer from the department will make a decision on your request
and write to you.

Yours sincerely

Dear Ms Smit

I refer to your FOI request to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal on 9
November 2016 for:

the data that will show me, in the years July 2012 to June 2015, how many
pensioners, under the age of 80yrs, there were in Australia receiving the
full age pension.

I would also like to receive the data for the same period, as to how many
of the above mentioned pensioners actually benefitted from the Age Pension
Work Bonus (max. $6500 per year).

As the subject-matter of your request is more closely connected to the
functions of the Department of Social Services, your FOI request was
transferred to this Department on 21 November 2016.

I am advised by the relevant line area within this Department that the
requested information is available in the Department’s annual report which
is available on the Department’s  website (at
https://www.dss.gov.au/about-the-departm...).

Data for the years July 2012 to June 2015, showing how many pensioners,
under the age of 80yrs, there were in Australia receiving the full age
pension; is available from the Table 2.1.16 on page 42 which shows the
percentage and number of recipients on part rate due to the means test
(similar tables are available for previous years).

benefitted from the Age Pension Work Bonus (max. $6500 per year), we would
again refer to the percentage and number of recipients with

employment income, see Table 2.1.18 on page 43 of the 2015-16 Annual
Report.
