Correspondence relating to the credit rating for the National Broadband Network
Dear Department of Finance,
On Friday 18 November the Minister of Finance issued the following press release:
http://www.financeminister.gov.au/media-...
The press release refers to NBN obtaining "Strong indicative ratings from credit rating agencies."
I am seeking access to any correspondence in the Department of Finance's possession with either NBN or credit rating agencies that discusses the request for the credit rating, the negotiations for obtaining the credit rating or the final credit rating itself.
I am also seeking any documents relating to that topic used in the preparation of the 18 November press release.
I am not seeking access to any undisclosed financial information about NBN and am happy for any figures of commercial sensitivity to be blacked out.
Yours faithfully,
Geoff Winestock
Thank you for your email, which has been forwarded to the Department’s FOI
Team for their consideration. A member of the FOI Team will respond to
your email in the next couple of days.
Kind regards
FOI Coordinator

Good afternoon Mr Winestock,
Further to the below, Finance is processing your FOI request with a decision currently due to be notified to you by Wednesday, 21 December 2016.
It is unlikely that Finance will impose charges for the processing of your request.
As required by the FOI Act, any documents provided to you under the FOI Act will be published on our disclosure log, unless an exemption applies or the documents are characterised as containing personal information. Documents will be published within one working day after they are released to you.
Finance has adopted a policy to generally exclude from any documents released under FOI, the names and contact details of junior staff (non-SES officers) and staff employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (adviser level and below). Finance’s preference is to reach agreement with FOI applicants to exclude these details from the scope of the request. Where there is no objection, the names and contact details of junior officers are redacted under section 22 of the FOI Act, on the basis that these details are irrelevant to the request.
Please contact the FOI Team on the below contact details if you wish to discuss your request.
