Wildlife rangers
Dear Nillumbik Shire Council, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 can you tell me if the council employees a wildlife ranger. If the answer is yes, how many are employed by council, what hours do they work and what is their role.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Allison Watt,
I would like to request that you waiver that fee on the grounds that releasing the information is in the general public interest and the charges would cause me financial hardship as I am a pensioner. Due to the above circumstances and pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 1982, can you tell me the very simple and current answer.
Yours sincerely,
Jason Simpson
Hi Jason
Please contact me at Council on 9433 3111 - I am happy to discuss with you the provision of this information outside of the FOI process.
Kind regards

Hi Jason
We have six Council Rangers authorised under the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals Act 1986 and the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and other legislation.
They are not authorised under the Wildlife Act 1975. These rangers only
assist with injured wildlife.

Information Act. For further information regarding accessing documents

Hi There!
In Victoria, if you want to make a formal FOI request it's possible for the council to charge a $27.90 fee to do so plus the cost of processing the request.
As someone who's made a lot of requests, I would strongly recommend asking for the information outside of FOI if possible, and only using the FOI act if the agency is being difficult. It seems like this agency is trying to help where possible.
Thanks!
Ben
