Freedom of Information Request – MF FOI 19/02

I write to you on behalf of the Office of the Minister for Finance (the
Minister’s Office) in relation to your FOI request, reference MF FOI
19/02, seeking:

… the Minister's diary covering all days in September in 'weekly agenda'
format.

I note that the FOI Guidelines, at paragraph 3.47, provide guidance
regarding the formal requirements of an FOI access request. Specifically,
paragraph 3.47 states:

o The request must provide such information as is reasonably necessary
to enable a responsible officer of the agency or the minister to
identify the document that is requested (s 15(2)(b)) (see [3.109]).
Before refusing a request for failing to meet this requirement an
agency or minister must undertake a ‘request consultation process’
(see [3.127]–[3.132]).

Having reviewed your request in line with the requirements of the FOI Act
and is satisfied that the request remains unclear, on the basis that the
information provided within the request is not enough to allow the
Minister to identify the document that is requested.

In order to identify the document(s) that you are requesting access to,
and for your request to be considered valid, we seek clarification on
which September you refer to (i.e. what year)?

Timeframe

The statutory period for processing your request commences from the day
after the Minister’s Office receives a valid FOI request. 

You will be advised of the timeframe once you have clarified the scope of
your request such that a responsible officer is able to identify the
relevant document(s). 

Way forward

Please clarify the details as specified above, to enable the Minister’s
Office to begin processing your FOI request.
