Dear Angie,
Thank you for the information provided. Most informative.
I am, however, concerned with some of the details in the tranche of documents in the request which I've now downloaded for review, insofar that it appears that the full names of some users, and the surnames of some users, have not been redacted. I'm not talking about names that can possibly be derived from various usernames, or names of some of the (I'm presuming) senior staff of the NLA, but there are numerous instances where the redaction has been missed.
Is this an issue for you in regards to the Privacy Act (1988) (Cth)?
Yours sincerely,
Albert Frankaland
Dear Mr Frankaland
Thank you for your email.
Could I please check with you, that:
- the staff name(s) you mention in your email are other than the name and contact details of Alison Dellit (who is an SES officer and therefore whose name and contact details are publicly available)
- name(s) of Trove users are other than the name DonnaTelfer or Donna Telfer, which is already publicly available?
Grateful if you could please advise.
Please note while personal information may be assessed as exempt under section 47F of the FOI Act, the release of personal information under the FOI Act does not contravene the Privacy Act.
Kind regards
Angie

Dear Mr Frankaland
This email is to respond to your request for documents of 15 September 2021 under the Freedom of Information Act 1988 (FOI Act).
You requested documents that contain the following information:
a) Details of all correspondence received in any form pertaining to feedback as to the text corrections of the following Trove usernames
i) theworldsgreatesttrovecorrector
ii) Gato
iii) yelnod
iv) donnatelfer
v) r.j.trenwith

d) Details of how many queries have been received via the "contact Trove support" webpage (https://trove.nla.gov.au/contact-trove-s...) since January 2020, how many have resulted in action been taken against a user, and how many have been dismissed without action?
The Library holds existing documents that contain information falling within the scope of your request (see attached zip file). Please note that for ease of reading numerous RefTracker enquiries, some documents have been compiled together (see document titled ‘FOI RefTracker enquiries’).
The Library does not otherwise hold documents that contain information falling within the scope of your request.
Redacted information - Library staff names
Please note that names of Library staff members who are below the SES level have been redacted from the documents in accordance with section 22 of the FOI Act, for the reason that:
• these names are reasonably regarded as irrelevant to the request, and
• it is not apparent you would decline access to the edited copy of the documents.
Where Library staff names have been redacted, the text ‘[staff name redacted]’ will appear to indicate this.
Redacted information - Personal information of members of the public
The relevant documents falling within the scope of your request contain personal information of members of the public. Documents or parts of documents containing personal information are exempt from disclosure under the FOI Act in certain circumstances. In this case:
• the relevant personal information is not well known and does not appear to be available from public sources
• the person(s) to whom the information relates may be known to be associated with the matters dealt with in the document
• enquiries received by the Library in relation to Trove text corrections indicate a concern of harassment within the relevant sector of the community
• the release of the personal information would not further promote objects of the FOI Act (e.g. increased scrutiny of Government activities), which is supported by release of the remaining information in the relevant documents.
Under section 47F of the FOI Act, the Library has therefore made the decision to redact certain personal information (including information that can reasonably identify an individual) contained in these documents (in part or in full), on account of that information being determined as conditionally exempt. This is because the disclosure of that information would involve the unreasonable disclosure of personal information (subsection 47F(2)). Personal information that has been redacted include names and contact details (such as email addresses). Where personal information has been redacted, the text ‘[name redacted]’, ‘[email address redacted]’ or similar will appear to indicate what type of personal information has been redacted.
Kind regards
Angie

Dear Mr Frankaland
Thank you for identifying the additional staff names and personal information and alerting us to this. We have now gone through the documents and redacted those names and staff names. Please delete the previous set of documents attached to our original response of 15 October, and replace them with the set of documents attached to this email.
