Statistics on refugee decisions for maritime arrivals

Aathavan made this Freedom of Information request to Administrative Review Tribunal

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Administrative Appeals Tribunal,

I would like statistics on the review outcomes by the AAT of refugee decisions of unauthorised maritime arrivals (UMAs) by country from 2015 to present.

Current statistics (http://www.aat.gov.au/migration-and-refu...) show the review outcomes for refugee decisions by country of UMAs and non-UMAs combined, but not separately (i.e. http://www.aat.gov.au/AAT/media/AAT/File... and http://www.aat.gov.au/AAT/media/AAT/File...)

Yours faithfully,
Aathavan

Dear Mr Aathavan

I refer to your request for access to documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).

You have requested access to 'statistics on the review outcomes by the AAT of refugee decisions of unauthorised maritime arrivals (UMAs) by country from 2015 to present'.

We received your request on 6 July 2018 and the 30 day statutory period for processing your request commenced from the day after that date. The 30 day period ends on Sunday, 5 August 2018. You should therefore expect a decision from us by 6 August 2018. The 30 day period may be extended if we need to consult other parties or for other reasons permitted under the FOI Act.

Please note that information released under the FOI Act may later be published online on our disclosure log, subject to certain exceptions. Personal information, for example, will not be published where this would be unreasonable.

We will contact you using the email address you have provided. Please advise if you would prefer us to use an alternative means of contact.

Regards,
Loga Roshan
