As your requests are framed in similar terms, and are currently both being processed by the department, it is open to you to consider withdrawing one of the requests on foot. If we do not hear from you by COB 28 April 2017, we will continue to process your separate requests and you will receive separate decisions for them.

Fair enough. It does take up an amazing amount of time.
It's an order of magnitude easier with RightToKnow. I've done one manually and it's super hard. Kudos to the folk running this site.

It's a shame you've withdrawn your request. You could have asked that the charges be waived due to the release of the information being in the public interest.
And if they said no, then you could ask the Information Commissioner to review the decision.
It's time consuming, yes, but the process will put pressure on DHS to be more transparent.
If we give up, they win.
