I refer to your request, received by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
(the department) on 2 February 2022, for access under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) to the following:

How long does it take the Department of Veterans' Affairs to respond to
and finalise disclosure log requests?

We note that you are seeking an answer to a question rather than
requesting access to a document. Accordingly, we do not consider that your
request, as it stands, meets the requirements set out in s15 of the FOI
Act.

Notwithstanding the above, I have consulted with the relevant director and
am informed that it is the department’s practice to endeavour to respond
to disclosure log requests within 30 days of receipt of the request. I am
not aware of a document which records this advice.

Please advise us if you wish to make an application under the FOI Act for
a document that the department may hold that meats the scope of your
request.

If I do not hear from you by COB 10 February 2022, I will take no further
action in respect of your correspondence.
