I refer to your email of 15 March 2013 requesting access to a more comprehensive database of all the work funded by NHMRC.

The most comprehensive set of data is the NHMRC's research funding data for period 1990 to 2012, these cover all new and continuing grants funded and active over the 23 year period. These data sets, of which there are four, provide core information on who was funded, what was funded, for how long and how much. Whilst the data is filtered to enable user interrogation, it also provides a range of tabulated data to assist. These data sets are available at: http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/grants/research-...

In addition, there is a range of research funding data and information drawn from the NHMRC’s electronic databases which covers information on funded research, generally over the period 2000-2006 (this will soon be updated to include data up to 2012). This information contains quantitative data from more than 1200 available final reports for grants that ended in 2004 to 2005 (to be updated to include more than 4500 reports held as at October 2012). http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/grants/research-...

The right of access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 is access to information that already exists in documentary form, not to abstract information which then needs to be converted to a document. It is my determination that your request is not a valid access request under section 15(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 , as it does not identify what documents you want access to. But I hope the information provided is helpful.

I'm trying to access a more comprehensive database of all the
work you have funded including names of people collaborating with
one another, their institutions and what subject area they are
working in with regards to the projects.

Is there a more comprehensive list than the spreadsheet you provide
on your website, especially one that goes further back in time?

For example cover pages to project report or spreadsheets that your
programme managers keep to watch over projects spending your money?

Any more detailed data you can provide on the research projects,
the 'outputs' they are producing and whom is involved would
be greatly appreciated.
