Dear Mr Smith

I am writing with regard to your internal review request for FA20/07/00200-R1.

I have discussed your request with the business area, and they have asked me to further clarify the scope of your request in order to determine whether a document can be produced under section 17(1) of the FOI Act.

The business area advises that it is able to produce a report stating the 'total number of number of non-APS staff employed by the Department'. However, it advises that this document would not meet the second part of your request, which requires that this number of non APS staff be 'filling equivalent roles to actual APS staff in your department'. The business area further advises that there would be no correlation between the 'total number of number of non-APS staff employed by the Department' and the 'number of non APS staff filling equivalent roles to actual APS staff'.

In light of this information, please advise by return email if you wish to alter the scope of your internal review request to be:

'The 'total number of number of non-APS staff employed by the Department' on XX date'.

Alternatively, if you wish to propose a different scope, or clarify the specifics of your request, please advise by return email by 2 September 2020.
