Murder of Tiahleigh Palmer
Dear Queensland Director of Public Prosecutions,
Information Request - Serious criminal acts and offences suffered by a child whilst in the custody of the State of QLD.
Tiahleigh Alyssa Rose Palmer (sometimes known as Tia or Tiah) was a 12-year-old girl who was placed in the care of the Thorburn in Logan QLD. She was also murdered by them on October 2015.
She had also been the victim of other acts of violence, raped repeatedly & assaulted, tortured, physically, mentally, emotionally abused, sexually molested, impregnated and the list of depravity goes on and on and on. Depravity committed by the Thorburn family and yet no charges have ever been laid or prosecutions conducted.
According to media reports, "Palmer's 19-year-old foster brother, Trent, was charged with two counts of perjury and one count each of attempting to pervert the course of justice and incest, and was denied bail. Her foster mother, Julene, and older foster brother, Joshua, were both charged with perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice and released on bail".
"Trent confessed to a cousin that he had had sex with Palmer on the previous Monday, and that she had told his mother about it. The court also heard that, shortly before her death, Palmer had told a friend that Trent would have sex with her when Mrs Thorburn went out, and she had told her foster mother about the abuse. Prosecutors say that Trent now admits he was lying when he had earlier repeatedly denied the abuse to his parents and police".
"In July 2017, Joshua Thorburn was sentenced to three months in jail for lying to police and hiding information about Palmer's death. Trent Thorburn was sentenced to four years in jail for incest, perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice in September 2017 and released on 19 January 2018. In November 2017, Julene Thorburn was sentenced to 18 months in jail for perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice" and Rick Thorburn pleads guilty and gets life for murder".
In reference to the aforementioned, I am seeking release of all information held by the Crown specifically information about the Police investigation including but not limited to the following; copies all police diaries for all police officers involved in any capacity with this matter, copies of all documents regarding the states custodial commitment, copies of prosecutions disclosures from any/all proceedings as well as all of the criminal proceedings. All communications between the Police and any other Government agency. Copies of the indictments for all charges as mentioned, copies of all court transcripts for all proceedings for every day of court proceedings.
I am also requesting that information be released for any civil proceedings that have been brought by any person/s in relation to the above mentioned, should they have been commenced and/or brought into existence.
Yours faithfully,
Sam Right
