Is the climate crises on the agenda?
Dear Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment,
Please report on how many times the phrases (not case sensitive): "climate emergency", "climate crisis" and "climate emergency declaration" are mentioned or cited across all Department records and communications, for every year since 1 January 2010, by year. That is: x many times in y year, a many times in b year, and so on.
Noting the considerable public interest in this issue it is expected the usual fees are waived in this instance.
Yours faithfully,
John Smith
Dear John Smith
We refer to your email dated 24 July 2022 to the former Department of
Agriculture, Water and the Environment seeking documents under the Freedom
of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act), as follows:
‘Please report on how many times the phrases (not case sensitive):
"climate emergency", "climate crisis" and "climate emergency declaration"
are mentioned or cited across all Department records and communications,
for every year since 1 January 2010, by year. That is: x many times in y
year, a many times in b year, and so on.’
On 1 July 2022, the former Department of Agriculture, Water and the
Environment became the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
On that basis, we are seeking clarification from you, if your
correspondence was intended for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries
and Forestry or for another agency.
Please be advised that we have reviewed the request and do not consider
your correspondence to be a valid request under the FOI Act. This is due
to the right of access under the FOI Act to documents, rather than to
information. You have not provided enough information concerning the
documents you are seeking that is reasonably necessary for an officer of
the agency to be able to identify it.
In light of the above, your email will not be treated as an FOI request
until we receive confirmation and further clarity from you by COB 28 July
2022, about the documents you are seeking.
Regards
