Flawed COPS report
Dear NSW Police Force,
1. Please clarify what the procedure is to have details amended, after finding errors in a NSW COPS report
eg.
i) address details
ii) lack of attention - substituting VIC where POI should be - making record of events flawed
iii) deviation from signed statement
2. Is it normal for Police to enter their personal opinion onto a COPS / Incident Report?
To my mind, it changes the document from objective to subjective, and can introduce personal bias or maintenance of preconceived ideas - that could impair how further incidences are recorded and interpreted
3. GIPA - if a GIPA is to produce records within a certain timeframe, held by the NSW Police for a certain event, eg. incident report, shouldn't that include diary entries? notes taken? And more so if several Police are involved or several are listed as being 'in charged'?
Yours faithfully,
Leo Muter
