Dear University of Technology Sydney,

I would like to request access to information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992, regarding current and past dealings of the University of Technology Sydney with organisations and agencies listed below, between the years 2020 and 2024 inclusive.

The request is for a list of organisations, with capacities described, that the University of Technology Sydney has dealings with in teaching and research, in relation to:

-Weapons manufacturing corporations;
-Defence-related organisations;
-Agencies and authorities relating to Israel, and the Occupied Palestinian territories (including Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem).

I would also like to request access to information for:

Any legal advice, formal or otherwise, that the University has authored or received concerning the implications for universities in Australia of the interim orders issued by the International Court of Justice on 26 January 2024 or 28 March 2024 (or any future subsequent orders thereafter) in relation to the Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel) case.

Sydney (UTS) under the Freedom of Information Act 1992:

 

Information requested

1)      Relating to current and past dealings of UTS with organisations
and agencies listed below, between the years 2020 and 2024 inclusive…

A list of organisations, with capacities described, that UTS has dealings
with, in teaching and research, in relation to:

a)       Weapons manufacturing corporations;

b)      Defence-related organisations;

c)       Agencies and authorities relating to Israel, and the Occupied
Palestinian territories (including Gaza, the West Bank and East
Jerusalem).

 

2)      Any legal advice, formal or otherwise, that the University has
authored or received concerning the implications for universities in
Australia of the interim orders issued by the International Court of
Justice on 26 January 2024 or 28 March 2024 (or any future subsequent
orders thereafter) in relation to the Application of the Convention on the
Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip
(South Africa v. Israel) case.

 

Invalid access application

Being a public sector entity, UTS is not covered under the Freedom of
Information Act 1992 (Cwth) [FOI Act]. Although you request is under the
FOI Act, the subject of the email received refers to the Government
Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW) [the GIPA Act]. We will take
your request to be an application under the GIPA Act.

 

However, your request is invalid as it does not include the application
fee required under section 41(1)(c) of the GIPA Act.
