OFFICIAL
Dear John Smith,
Thank you for your email of 31 January 2023 to the Greater Sydney Commission requesting access to “the Declaration of Interests forms submitted by the Chief Commissioner and each of the City Commissioners”.
Notice about the recipient authority
In December 2021, the Premier announced that we would move from a metropolis of three Greater Sydney cities to a city region of six. In March 2022, the Greater Cities Commission Act was passed which changed the Greater Sydney Commission to the Greater Cities Commission and expanded our geographic remit.
Scope of the request
To make sure you get the right information, we would like to understand a little more about your request.
Can you please define the date range for the information you are requesting?
Advice on progressing your application
Generally, we try to release information we hold without the need for you to make a formal access application, unless there are good reasons to require one.
In this instance, we would like to handle your request informally as the information requested raises no particular concerns in terms of possible public interest reasons why it should be kept confidential and we will be able to release it to you without the formalities of having to make a formal application.
Please notify us in writing if you consent to your application being handled informally. You can find out more about how to access information from our agency at https://www.greatercities.au/about-us/go....
Sincerely,
Greater Cities Commission
Dear GCC Info,
You asked: Can you please define the date range for the information you are requesting?
Answer - The most recent declaration form for each person please. Where the current position holder has not submitted a declaration, please advise.
Yours sincerely,
John Smith
OFFICIAL
Dear John Smith,
I refer to your application made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (the GIPA Act) to the Greater Cities Commission (Commission) dated 31 January 2023 requesting access to:
“I request the Declaration of Interests forms submitted by the Chief Commissioner and each of the City Commissioners...
The most recent declaration form for each person please. Where the current position holder has not submitted a declaration, please advise.”
In this instance we have waived the $30 application fee and will accept your application as a valid application under the GIPA Act. Your application must be decided within 20 working days of receipt, by 27 February 2023 (subject to any suspension or extension of the time for deciding the application).
If your application is not decided by that date, it is taken by the GIPA Act to have been refused. If this occurs, you are entitled to seek a review of this refusal.
Inclusion of details in disclosure log
The government information you are seeking may be of interest to other members of the public. If this is the case and you are granted access to the information requested, the GIPA Act requires us to record the following details about your access application in our “disclosure log”:
• the date on which your access application is decided,
• a general description of the government information released,
• whether any of that information is available to other members of the public, and
• if the information is available, how it can be accessed.
This disclosure log will be housed on the Commission’s website.
You have a right to object to these details being included in our disclosure log in certain circumstances. For example, you might object if the government information you seek contains your own personal information or concerns your business, commercial, professional or financial interests. However, even if you do object, we may still decide to include details about your access application in our disclosure log.
We will contact you if any matters relating to your application require further clarification or discussion. Please email us at [email address] if you have any questions in relation to your application.
Sincerely,
Greater Cities Commission
