Computer log - Event
Dear NSW Police Force,
I believe Event/Incident Reports are filed on a computer system that is readily accessible from any Police Station terminal.
Given such a file needs to be created then saved, it would suggest that file can also be edited. Therefore, in the interest of transparency, are any and all dates an Incident Report or Event Report is edited, added to or altered, so recorded against that file? And, if so, can that information be made known should a valid GIPA application be made seeking information on that Incident or Event Report?
Yours faithfully,
Leo Muter
Good Afternoon Leo,
Yes I can confirm that all changes made to a COPS report would be
trackable and can be addressed in a valid GIPA application.
Please see the attached forms for your reference.
Kind Regards,

results pending a formal application recently made to the NSW Police.
Wanting to know how & when an incident was written up, more particularly, why the matter was down-graded & diluted by Police.

Oh, and, Right To Know is VERY USEFUL
because a Station Duty Officer, when I inquired, told me an Incident Report is NOT available!!!!! Only the Incident Number.
Makes it a bit hard to know how a case is being handled when I'm given a bum-steer.
Hopefully I'm on the right track and will let you know how the formal GIPA goes.

How did it go Leo? Did you get the information you were after? If so, what did it help you achieve?
Thanks for sharing!

Dear #GIPAAPP,
COPS appears to have 'creation date' and 'print date'
are you certain COPS REPORT has the dates recorded for any amendments, alterations or re-editing?
Yours sincerely,
Leo Muter

Good Afternoon Leo,
Depending on what information is changed within a COPS event, this would
appear in the event history.
All dates/times of amendments and details of staff accessing the event
report are recorded and can be retrieved on an audit if need be.
Kind Regards,
Erin
