Cash position of Principal Agencies as at 30/06/2018
Dear Australian National Audit Office,
I am trying to extrapolate the Cash at Bank position for each Federal Agency as at 30/06/2018. So far I have only been able to retrieve that information from the annual report for each agency one by one.
I'm wondering if you have a consolidated report that shows the total cash position of the Australian Government, as well as that for each Federal Agency? If that data is too large, then can I just have this information for the 190 Principal Agencies?
Many thanks for your help.
Yours faithfully,
Tracy
Dear Ms Huang,
Thank you for your email.
The role of the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is to provide the Parliament with an independent assessment of selected areas of public administration and assurance about public sector financial reporting, administration and accountability. We do this primarily by conducting financial statement audits, performance audits and assurance reviews of Commonwealth Government entities.
The ANAO is unable to process your request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act), as under schedule 2 of the FOI Act the Auditor-General is listed as an ‘Exempt agency’ and on the basis that the ANAO is not an entity to which the FOI Act applies. The exemption applies to the discharge of the Auditor-General’s audit function and the administration of the ANAO.
The Department of Finance prepares the Consolidated Financial Statements (CFS) for the Australian Government each financial year. The CFS presents the whole of government and general government sector (GGS) financial reports. It consolidates the audited accounts of 184 entities across the public sector and is published online at: https://www.finance.gov.au/sites/default... . Other documents relevant to the CFS can be located at: https://www.finance.gov.au/publications/... .
