Dear Cat Walker
Thank you for your request of 26 July 2024, made under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act), for copies of the following documents held
by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA):
Scope:
"A copy of the briefing pack/any other briefing materials prepared
for NDIA officials attending the 25th July 2024 Community Affairs
Legislation Committee hearing regarding the legislative changes currently
before Parliament."
We seek your consent to take out middle and surnames and contact details
of NDIA staff (that is, the information will be treated as
irrelevant). Please respond to this as we require your agreement in
writing.
Processing timeframes
A 30-day statutory period for processing your request commenced from 27
July 2024, in accordance with section 15(5)(b) of the FOI Act. Therefore
the due date for a decision on access is 26 August 2024.
Extension of time request
We have undertaken preliminary searches and acknowledge that your request
may take us longer to process. I am therefore seeking your agreement to a
15-day extension of time under section 15AA of the FOI Act. If you agree
to this extension, the new due date for us to make a decision on your
request will be 10 September 2024. Please let us know whether you agree by
08/08/2024.
This period may be extended if we need to consult with third parties or
for other reasons. We will advise you if this happens.
Disclosure Log
Information release under the FOI Act may be published on the NIDA’s
disclosure log
located on our website, subject to certain exceptions.
If you have any concerns about the publication of information you have
requested, please contact us.
Further help
Please respond at [1][NDIA request email] and confirm your agreement to
redaction of staff names as to the requested extension.
We will contact you using the email address you provided. Please advise if
you would prefer us to use an alternative means of contact.

Dear Jennifer,
Thank you for your response.
I understand DSS has partially transferred a separate request to them to the NDIA, per “FOI LEX 51226- Acknowledgement and Notification of part transfer to the National Disability Insurance Agency” which can be found here:
https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/b...
As noted in that request, the briefing materials sought “can be limited to a digital copy/ies of the final materials provided for the hearing and any additional documents provided to officials during the hearing.”
As such, this should be readily available by contacting the teams supporting Matthew Swainson and Daniel Flowers who appeared at this hearing.
I consent to the removal of middle/surnames and contact details of NDIA staff, with the exception that the full names of SES staff and Branch Managers should remain.
As there is no reasonable need to conduct further searches requiring substantial time, I do not consent to the extension of time.
Many thanks,
Cat
