Australian Business Licence and Information Service database
Dear Department of Industry,
Please provide the Australian Business Licence and Information Service ('ABLIS') database containing the list of government licences, permits, approvals, registrations, codes of practice, standards and guidelines and associated data. This refers to the database used to provide data to the website at https://ablis.business.gov.au.
I can access the data bit-by-bit through the Department's website but the database as a whole is a qualitatively different document which would enable me to search in arbitrary ways unrestricted by the website's user interface.
Please treat this as a request for administrative access or, if that is refused, a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I submit that any charges should be waived on the basis that freeing this information so that it can be incorporated into non-government databases and applications will enable new innovative services to be developed to help Australians build and grow businesses in the ideas boom.
