Thank you for your email dated 9 April 2021 to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), seeking access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act) to:

"... any and all communications between department officials or ministerial staff and major airlines Qantas, Virgin Australia and Regional Express concerning future assistance (financial or otherwise) for the aviation sector beyond March 2021."

As the subject matter of this request is more closely connected with the functions of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications (Infrastructure), DFAT is proposing to transfer your request to Infrastructure under section 16(1)(b) of the FOI Act.

Noting that you have already submitted a substantially similar FOI request to Infrastructure, we would first like to offer you the opportunity to withdraw your request submitted to DFAT on 9 April.

Please confirm whether you agree to withdraw your DFAT FOI request by return email. Should we not hear from you, or should you elect not to withdraw your request, DFAT will proceed with the transfer of your request to Infrastructure under section 16(1)(b).
