Dear Mr Big,
Freedom of Information Request No. FOI 2122-019
I refer to your email of 4 September 2021 and your request under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) for access to documents.
In your email to the Department of Social Services (the department) on 28
August 2021, you stated as follows:
“Please provide the following statistics about your website, broken down
by financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21.
1) The total number of all visits to your website.
2) The number of site visits to your:
a) FOI webapge
b) FOI disclosure log webpage
c) Information Publication Scheme (IPS) entry webpage
d) IPS agency plan webpage
e) privacy webpage”
The department then sent you an email on 3 September 2021 to confirm if
your above request for information is an access request made pursuant to
the FOI Act.
In response to our email, you confirmed in an email to us on 4 September
2021 that your request for information in your email of 28 August 2021 was
made pursuant to the FOI Act.
As section 15 of the FOI Act specifically provides that it is a
requirement that the request be made in writing, stating that the request
is an application for the purposes of the FOI Act, your request was deemed
an FOI request on 4 September 2021. The 30-day statutory period for
processing your request commenced from the day after that date. You should
therefore expect a decision from us by 5 October 2021. The period of 30
days may be extended if we need to consult third parties, impose a charge
or for other reasons. We will advise you if this happens.
You will be notified of any charges in relation to your request as soon as
possible, before we process any requested documents or impose a final
charge.
Please note that information released under the FOI Act may later be
published online on our disclosure log
([1]https://www.dss.gov.au/about-the-departm...),
subject to certain exceptions.
We will contact you using the email address and phone number you provided.
Please advise if you would prefer us to use an alternative means of
contact. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the

Dear Mr Big,
We refer to your request of 28 August 2021 in which you sought the
following information:
‘…statistics about your website, broken down by financial years 2019-20
and 2020-21.
1) The total number of all visits to your website.
2) The number of site visits to your:

On 4 September 2021 you confirmed that this request was made under section
15 of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, therefore a decision on your
request is currently due to you on Tuesday 5 October 2021.
The Department is in the process of consulting with third parties
regarding the information you are seeking, and is awaiting responses to
its consultations. To enable the Department to finalise its consultations
and prepare the information, we are seeking your agreement under
[1]section 15AA of the FOI Act to a small extension of 3 days to process
your request. This would make the new decision date for your request
Friday 8 October 2021.
We note that in your email of 4 September, you were open to the option of
receiving the information via administrative release instead. We are able
to release this information to you administratively, rather than under a
formal FOI process. Could you please advise if you are willing to receive
the requested information via administrative release? If you agree to
this, could you please confirm in writing that you will withdraw your FOI
request in favour of an administrative release?
We would appreciate your response regarding these two matters by close of
business Friday 1 October 2021.
