Transfer of RBA Officers' SuperFund members to SunSuper
Dear Reserve Bank of Australia,
During March 2017 the Reserve Bank of Australia Officers' superannuation fund was transferred to SunSuper by way of a 'successor fund transfer' (SFT) arrangement.
The documents I seek are copies of any correspondence from the Reserve Bank of Australia to APRA advising APRA of the proposes transfer of fund members to SunSuper and copies of any correspondence from APRA to the RBA related to this proposed transfer of fund members.
Yours faithfully,
Phillip Sweeney
Dear Mr Sweeney
In terms of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I acknowledge receipt of your request and advise that processing of it commenced on 17 October 2020.
Please be advised that, consistent with the provisions of the Information Publication Scheme, the Bank’s policy is to release all documents provided to applicants under the FOI Act 1982 on the Bank’s FOI disclosure log close to the same time they are provided to the applicant. The publication of any FOI related documents on our website will also be notified to the Bank’s RSS feed subscriber list.
Yours sincerely,
Phil Lomas | FOI Officer | Secretary's Department

Dear Mr Sweeney,
I refer to your recent request seeking:
correspondence sent by the Reserve Bank to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (and any replies) advising it of the proposed transfer of the former Officers’ Superannuation Fund (OSF) to Sunsuper in 2017.
I advise that we have identified four documents relevant to your request and I attach them to this email.
Note that document three has been redacted for exempt material in terms of sections 45 (confidential information) and 47 (commercially sensitive information) of the FOI Act. The remaining documents are released with some personal information removed (for example, signatures, email addresses and phone numbers).
Redactions to document 3 in terms of section 45 are appropriate because the material was provided to the Bank by Sunsuper in-confidence and disclosure of it 'would found an action ... for breach of confidence' .
Redactions to document 3 in terms of section 47(1)(b) are also appropriate as disclosure would disclose '... information having a commercial value that would be, or could reasonably be expected to be, destroyed or diminished if the information were disclosed.'
If you are dissatisfied with my decision, you may apply for internal review or Information Commissioner review of the decision.
In the event you are dissatisfied, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) recommends approaching us in the first instance to request an internal review. You also have the option of approaching the OAIC directly to seek an Information Commissioner review of the decision. However, the OAIC would be likely to refer you back to us before considering whether to conduct a review.
Internal review:
An internal review application must be made within 30 days of the date of this letter, and be lodged in one of the following ways:
email: [RBA request email]
post: FOI Officer, Reserve Bank of Australia SD, GPO Box 3947, Sydney NSW 2001.
Where possible, please attach reasons why you believe review of the decision is necessary. The internal review will be carried out by another officer within 30 days.
Information Commissioner review:
An application for review by the Information Commissioner must be made in writing within 60 days of the date of this letter, and be lodged in one of the following ways:
online: https://forms.business.gov.au/smartforms...
email: [email address]
post: Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001
More information about Information Commissioner review is available on the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner website. Go to https://www.oaic.gov.au/freedom-of-infor....
