Dear Mr McLeod

I refer to your application in which you seek access to documents under
the Freedom of Information Act 1982(FOI Act)(ABS reference FOI 201819/03),
regarding:

o 'the “current statistic” and for the number of Australians
experiencing “food insecurity”'

Your request was received by the ABS on 10 July 2018 and the 30 day
statutory period for processing your request commenced from that date. If
this request will take longer than 30 days to process, we will contact you
to negotiate an extension of time.

I would add that the information you are requesting may be exempt from
release under Schedule 2, Part II, Division 2 of the FOI Act (documents
containing information collected under the Census and Statistics Act
1905). However, the information you seek may be available through the
National Information and Referral Service (NIRS), which may be contacted
on 1300 135 070. More information on the NIRS may be found on the ABS
website [1]here.

Should your information needs be met through the NIRS, I would ask that
you contact the ABS to withdraw your request by emailing
