Taxonomic status of the giant cuttlefish of northern Spencer Gulf

Dan Monceaux made this Freedom of Information request to University of Adelaide

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was refused by University of Adelaide.

Dear University of Adelaide Freedom of Information Officers,

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 1991 for the release of all documentation held by the university related to research effort to resolve the taxonomic status of the giant cuttlefish population of northern Spencer Gulf, South Australia.

This work has been within the scope of the university's Spencer Gulf Ecosystem and Development Initiative since its establishment. As such, I would expect this search to review all documentation produced by that entity and its participants. The search should include the minutes of any SGEDI board or committee meetings, correspondence between participating scientists and other professionals and any related unpublished research and interim findings. Central to the taxonomic work is Professor Bronwyn Gillanders of the University's Environment Institute, who has worked with Professor Steve Donnellan of the South Australian Museum on related studies and preparation for publication.

Please advise me of fees payable and the means to make such a payment so that we can progress this request as quickly as possible.

Yours sincerely,

Dan Monceaux

Note 1: Mostly I classify a response like this one to say "clarification requested" because the agency has told the applicant that some more information (or money!) is needed before the request will be processed. This time, I have put the response in the category of "refused" because it is several months since the agency responded and the applicant has not made a follow-up. This does not mean that the agency will refuse the request when an application is made in the correct (required).

Note 2: Although an application under the Freedom of Information Act 1983 of the Commonwealth of Australia does not require an application fee, this is not the case with applications in the states and territories of Australia. Then an applicant must usually pay a fee, or the request is not valid. Also, the Commonwealth agencies might demand payment of a fee to cover extra processing costs. If the fee is not paid, the request will not be processed.
