Statistics for work-related injuries
Dear Queensland Office of Industrial Relations,
The Courier Mail on Monday 13 May 2019 published a story titled: Bullies at your service. The article quoted the Office of Industrial Relations figures relating to "psychological injuries as a result of bullying and harassment" - for complaints and substantiated.
I am seeking annual statistics from 2000 for the following:
1. The number of substantiated or accepted complaints as being work-related for all Queensland Workers.
2. The number for substantiated or accepted as being work-related for: "psychological injuries" and "physical injuries". The two figures will reconcile with the figures in point 1.
3. The number of complaints - that were not substantiated or accepted - as being work-related for all Queensland Workers.
4. The number for complaints - that were not substantiated or accepted - as being work related for: "psychological injuries" and "physical injuries". The two figures will reconcile with the figures in point 3.
Yours faithfully,
Julie Middleton

Good afternoon Julie,
As you are seeking to access data that is not your own you will be
required to make an RTI application. I have attached an application form
and below is the advice on how to complete the form.
When completing the form if you are unsure of what to tick, cross or
supply, please reach out as this will go smoother and faster if the form
and all that we need is provided first time round.
The RTI Act allows 25 business days to process the application. Dependant
on where the information is and how much there is, all of this may be
needed, may not, clearly I cannot say. Also keep in mind that there are
various provisions within the RTI Act where information that is available,
it may be withheld from you. Should that occur then this, along with your
rights of review, will be detailed to you in a letter along with that
which is released.
There is an application fee of $50.80 payable.
On the front page put your details in as the contact but the organisations
details in the next section.
Make sure you tick option 1C when kicking off the application. (This is on
page two)
For question 2, tick NO
For question 3, tick Yes.
For question 4, put the details for the organisation in.
For question 5, put ‘OIR’
For 6, I am seeking annual statistics from 2000 for the following:
1.The number of substantiated or accepted complaints as being work-related
for all Queensland Workers.
2.The number for substantiated or accepted as being work-related for:
"psychological injuries" and "physical injuries". The two figures will
reconcile with the figures in point 1.
3.The number of complaints - that were not substantiated or accepted - as
being work-related for all Queensland Workers.
4.The number for complaints - that were not substantiated or accepted - as
being work related for: "psychological injuries" and "physical injuries".
The two figures will reconcile with the figures in point 3.
For 6 b, put as per above
For 6 c, as it asks for, the date range you want the report to cover.
For 6 d, leave blank
For 6 e, put ‘Data and Evaluation’
For 6 f, Leave blank
For 7, I suggest ticking docs on CD as it is free and lasts longer than
paper.
Last but not least, sign the form ! do NOT put your CC details on the
form, we will send you a reference number and a link for you to make your
payment after we have received your application.
Our postal address is:
Right to Information Unit
Office of Industrial Relations
GPO Box 69
BRISBANE QLD 4001
Alternately, you may scan and email the application back to OIR RTI.
