Saving the laneways of Paddington

Currently waiting for a response from Woollahra Municipal Council, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Dear Woollahra Municipal Council,

I am writing to request an Internal Review of the ‘right of way’ as designated on DP32784 and this is the same right of way as marked on Woollahra Council's own 1973 Charting Map, Sheet Reference 37.

Please advise the steps Woollahra Council has undertaken to address the illegal building works reported including the unauthorised building extension and fencing encroaching on the easement by 19 Caledonia Street. Confirm what steps Woollahra Council has undertaken to ensure compliance.

Confirm if the original Development Application No. 371/2020/3 was submitted with false and misleading information. The ‘2020 Statement of Environmental Effects’ associated with the original development and this application asserts that ‘No easements are known to affect the site.’ In contrast, the ‘2020 Statement of Heritage Impact’ indicates that ‘It appears the rear yard utilises land that is a Right-of-Way, at least in part.’ Confirm that if a Development Application was submitted with false and misleading information, the consent should be rendered void.

Confirm if Woollahra Council approved the Development Application No. 371/2020/3 under the NSW Liberal Party Covid-19 Fast-Tracking approval process, enabling the Liberal led Woollahra Council would be eligible for $5.5 million in funding. That this approval has not dishonestly favoured the Liberal party and placed private advantage over merit.

I am requesting that Woollahra Council provide all correspondence for the removal of the weeping willow located within the right of way. Please provide who has made the request and under what circumstances it was approved. Please advise what commitment was made to replace the trees that have been felled on this easement.

Please provide all correspondence from Woollahra Council for 15 Caledonia Street who was instructed by this council to remove illegal building works and has still left the shell of a brick wall. Confirm what steps Woollahra Council has undertaken to ensure compliance for illegal building works.

Yours faithfully,

Greg Lee
