Runway 30 Noise Abatement Trial - Number of Survey Respondents Living Directly Under the Current Flight Path

Waiting for an internal review by Airservices Australia of their handling of this request.

Dear Airservices Australia,

I refer to the long-overdue Noise Abatement Trial. Airservices Australia published the results of an online survey on 3 April 2023. The results can be seen here:

https://engage.airservicesaustralia.com/...

There were 91 survey respondents. I am keen to understand how many of these respondents lived directly under the current RWAY30 RNP-AR flight path.

According to Airservices Australia, a minority of the survey respondents (47%) want the status quo to remain. I suspect this minority do not live directly under the RWAY30 RNP-AR flight path and prefer the status quo to remain out of fear the flight path may be shifted to where the live (not in my backyard attitude).

To sum up, I request information about how many of the 91 respondents live directly under the RWAY30 RNP-AR flight path (i.e. the number of respondents most impacted by aircraft noise).

Yours faithfully,

Dr Andrew Terhorst

Dear MBX FOI,

You state in your refusal the following:

"Given that suburbs can vary in size along with respondents' locations within those suburbs we
cannot say that the location data held by Airservices is not definitive proof as to whether those
respondents live directly under a flight path or simply close to one.

As a result, we do not have the documents sought by this request and have decided to refuse it
under section 24A of the FOI Act. "

I am puzzled by this claim.

I refer to Figure 4 in the NAP decision posted here: https://ehq-production-australia.s3.ap-s....

Airservices Australia did have the information I was seeking. My question to you then is why did you make a false claim? I understand it is illegal to provide false information under the FOI Act.

I expect a proper explanation for this and will forward your response to the responsible Minister for proper sanction.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Terhorst

Dear MBX FOI,

You seem to be side-stepping the issue.

You refused my FOI request on the grounds that the information did not exist when, in fact, it did.

I am submitting a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) stating you made a false statement. Why you chose to make a false declaration needs to be investigated.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Terhorst
