Request for Detail Incident Report 1-7AL08L (Part 2)
Dear Department of Immigration and Citizenship,
The following request is made under the Freedom of Information Act. I would like access to Incident Detail Report 1-7AL08L from the Department's Compliance, Case Management, Detention and Settlement Portal. I also request any documents attached to the detailed report.
I have previously requested this information via the Right to Know website (https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/f...). That request was considered withdrawn by DIAC although I did not withdraw the request myself. However, I do understand that this request constitutes a new FoI request for the purposes of the time limits that apply.
I have not altered the scope from my previous request. However, I will consider altering the scope if DIAC can show that the time and costs involved in processing this request would be excessive.
Yours faithfully,
David Reid

Dear Department of Immigration and Citizenship,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Immigration and Citizenship's handling of my FOI request 'Request for Detail Incident Report 1-7AL08L (Part 2)'.
DIAC has only granted partial access to the documents I have requested. The redacted incident report that was released contains little more information than that which has already been released into the public domain by Detention Logs (see http://detentionlogs.com.au/data/inciden...). I would like access to documents attached to the incident report to know more about this case.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,
David Reid

I have marked the status of this request as partially successful. However, I have requested an internal review for the reasons stated in my email dated 8 August. I believe DIAC have taken the approach of partially releasing information in an attempt to make it look like they are complying with the FoI Act. It might yet be determined that they are acting to the letter of the law, but they are certainly not acting in the spirit of the law.
