Rate of pension for retired politicians
Dear Department of Finance,
I would be obliged if you could supply me with the actual rate of the pension that a retired, or soon to be retired, politician is entitled to receive after a minimum of two terms in office.
EG: Is it a percentage of the salary they were/are on at relinquishing office. Is it tied to CPI. Are there any other non-cash benefits that they will receive and for how long do these benefits continue. Is their entitlement affected by any other salaries or amounts they receive for other duties such as board memberships and public appearances.
Your open, honest and candid reply to my request would be appreciated.
Please supply the requested information and do not simply refer me to investigative websites.

Good afternoon Mr Hutton
Section 15 of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 states:
...a person who wishes to obtain access to a document of an agency or an official document of a Minister may request access to the document.
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner FOI guidelines further provides under section 2.29 that the right of access is to existing documents, rather than to information.
Your email of 10 May 2016, refers to a list of questions, which you would like answered. The FOI Act does not require an agency to create a document in response to a request for information.
For the department to process your request, we ask that you provide further information concerning the documents you seek so as to enable an officer to identify them.
The PCSS pensions payable to a retired parliamentarian reflects their period of service in the parliament and any periods of service as a Minister or office holder. Further information on the design of the PCSS, for example how the figures are calculated, can be found in the Parliamentary Handbook, which is available at:
