Prime Minister's Oath

Silvana made this Freedom of Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

I am writing to ask why the current Prime Minister has not used the following oath from the 'Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act (1900)':

"I, A.B., do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to
Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Her heirs and successors according to law.
SO HELP ME GOD! "

(Currently "Queen Victoria" can be substituted to "Queen Elizabeth II")

Below is a link to a video of the Prime Minister Scott Morrison reading an oath in May 2019 that is inconsistent with the oath in the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act (1900).

I would like to see evidence of the Prime Minister reading or reciting the original oath. Otherwise, please provide documents suggesting the approval an oath/affirmation that is not consistent with the oath in the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act (1900).

Yours faithfully,

Silvana
