The Melbourne metropolitan rail network is operated and managed on a
day-to-day basis by Metro Trains Melbourne Pty Ltd (Metro). Metro is
responsible for:

 

o Making any onboard or platform service announcements;
o Maintaining and operating the rolling stock and rail infrastructure,
including stations, overhead power, bridges, track and associated
signalling equipment;
o Responding to incidents on the metropolitan train network; and
o Employing and training drivers, station staff, and other personnel
required to operate the metropolitan rail network.

Following a machinery of government change, the Public Transport
Development Authority (trading as Public Transport Victoria or PTV)
transitioned into the Department of Transport on 1 July 2019. For further

January 2020.

I would like to request a copy of all onboard announcement files and the
platform announcement files used on Melbourne’s train network.

 

I’d like to confirm that I will use these files for personal use only, and
will remain in my sole possession.

 

Per the advice given on the Victorian Government’s Freedom of Information
Request page, I wish to determine whether these files can be obtained:
without a formal request or is publicly available, before making a formal
request through the Victorian Freedom of Information Act.

 

It is my understanding that these files would not be exempt from the FOI
Act.
