NBN Reform
Dear Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy,
I request disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI
Act) of briefings and/or summaries of options, as well as draft
versions thereof, that the department has prepared or is preparing, regarding the status, structure or technologies of the National
Broadband Network (NBN), for the consideration of an incoming
government; including, but not limited to, alternate approaches to
delivering a broadband network.
Yours faithfully,
Tim C
Dear Tim
I refer to your FOI request for the briefs, including drafts, relating to
the NBN as part of the Department’s briefing for an incoming government.
It is difficult to determine how best to process requests on the basis of
draft briefs as the briefs are still fluid and undergoing amendments. It
would be difficult to identify the relevant draft at a particular point in
time as different individual briefs are at different stages and being
prepared in a range of areas.
As we do not anticipate that the briefs will be finalised until such time
as a new Minister is sworn in I suggest that the most effective way to
handle your request is to hold it over until this date. This would mean
all the briefs are readily identifiable by the FOI team and it will
minimise search timeframes. The decision date on your request will then
be 30 days from that date.
Please let me know if you have any concerns with this approach.
Regards
Andrew Madsen

Dear Officers,
Thank you for your responses. As it appears that the documentation I have requested will be covered by a similar request lodged by another party, I hereby withdraw this request.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
