National Construction Code 2015 Volume One Guide EP1.4
Dear Australian Building Codes Board,
The Guide to the National Construction Code 2015 states in EP1.4 the following:
EP1.4
Emergency Lighting
The intent of EP1.4 is to provide occupants with satisfactory emergency lighting. Such lighting must provide sufficient visual conditions in a building to aid safe evacuation during an emergency. Accordingly, it must supply sufficient light to:
1. Minimise risk of panic
2. Illuminate the safe route to an emergency exit; and
3. Otherwise assist in the orderly and safe evacuation of the building.
Please provide the list of independently peer reviewed and published papers which the ABCB used to determine that occupants may panic in the event of lack of emergency lighting.
Yours faithfully,
Ms Jensen
