Dear Anne,
Thank you for your reply. I would like to revise the scope of my request to the following:
Reports or documents which summarise the results of radiation, heavy metals and hazardous materials monitoring during the periods 2010-12 and 2017 - present.
If not present in the summary documents, I request a copy of the number of instances and the measurement reading of any radiation levels in excess of the public safety standard.
Kind regards,
Else Kennedy
Dear Else
Thank you for your email.
I will make some enquires about how far the spreadsheets go back and confirm with the delegate if she is satisfied as to the revised scope. I am not sure that we have spreadsheets which cover heavy metals. That is not ANSTO's expertise and we may not have these records.
Accordingly, can we agree that we will only search for radiation records?
In terms of the spreadsheets for radiation records, as there are many versions of the spreadsheets, do you agree that we are required to locate one or maybe two spreadsheets for the relevant period/s rather than producing every iteration or copy? If we attempted to produce and locate every spreadsheet or record we would return to the initial scope issue in terms of diversion of our resources.
In relation to your request about radiation levels exceeding the public standard, I think you will find there are multiple standards in place between various jurisdictions and regulators and that may fall within the ambit of the public health regulators, rather than ANSTO. While we obviously work very safely, to protect our staff and the public in all we do, our records in this matter relate to a service we were providing to a client. I would ask that you not pursue that part of the request at this time anyway with ANSTO, as it creates scope and searching issues and may also put us back in the practical refusal sphere.
Can I suggest, we just proceed to locate the relevant spreadsheets for agreed period, without any duplicates and you consider whether you wish to make application to public health regulatory agencies about their records of does measurements. Do you agree?
For your information, once we have agreed on the reduced scope the 30 day period to search for records etc will commence, so I would ask you to confirm with me quickly so we can make a start.
In addition, as we were providing a service to the University, once relevant records are located we are going to need to consult with them and other affected third parties. This can also extend the relevant time periods, but you will be advised accordingly.
The delegate will then make a decision on the release of the materials to you, in full or part, having regard to any submissions received.
I await your confirmation of the further reduced scope of the request at this time.

I suspect that the documents are too big to leave our server in pdf form, and that is why we used sharefile.
I am in another part of ANSTO, so I have forwarded your request to the right area. You will need to discuss whether a further request needs to be made and whether any payment is required in connection with processing that further request. This reply sucks, the sharefile is hosted behind a password protected space that doesn't work (likely the requestor had to change the password).
Else, if you could link in the annotations here a proper copy of the file that would be appreciated.
