Metro Train Working Timtables
Dear Public Transport Victoria,
I would like to have any documents that have Working Timetables for Metro Trains, in particular for the Burnley Group. The purpose is for analysis. If possible, I would like this data to be publicly available.
I am aware that if I go through the FOA process, I will have to pay fees of $29.62.
Yours faithfully,
Enoch Liu
Dear Public Transport Victoria,
To clarify, I would like the current Metro Working Timetables for the Glen Waverley,Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale lines. I would like this to be prompt.
Yours faithfully,
Enoch Liu
Dear Enoch,
Thanks for your message.
Please note that following a machinery of government change, the Public
Transport Development Authority (trading as Public Transport Victoria or
PTV) transitioned into the Department of Transport on 1 July 2019. For
further information, please refer to the [1]Victoria Government Gazette
and the [2]Transport Legislation Amendment Act 2019 which came into effect
on 1 January 2020.
You may be aware that Metro Trains Melbourne Pty Ltd (Metro) published an
[3]Addenda to the Metropolitan Working Timetable in 2013, but it appears
that actual copies of the Metropolitan Working Timetable have not been
published on their website.
As the accredited rail operator, Metro is responsible for formulating and
publishing the Metropolitan Working Timetable. Have you tried to contact
Metro to ask for a copy of their working timetable?
I am also currently making enquiries and will get back to you once I
receive advice back. In any case, as the Metropolitan Working Timetable is
a document provided by or contains information obtained from Metro, we
will be required to consult Metro before disclosure of the document.
Regards,
Gavin

Dear Enoch,
I have sought the views of Metro Trains Melbourne Pty Ltd (Metro) on the
disclosure of its working timetables for the Burnley Group.
Metro has objected to the disclosure of its working timetables on the
basis that it contains or would be likely to reveal information in
relation to MTM's strategies, systems and methodology for managing rail
infrastructure/rolling stock to maximise the efficient and effective
delivery of train services (eg scheduling of non-revenue services in order
to meet passenger service requirements).
For this reason, we are unable to voluntarily or administratively release
the working timetables outside of the FOI process.
You are of course entitled to submit a formal [1]Freedom of Information
request to the Department of Transport to seek this information. In the
event the Department of Transport decides to exempt any information from
release under Part IV of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic), you
can seek a review of that decision at the Office of the Victorian
Information Commissioner and/or VCAT.
Regards,
Gavin
