Dear Smith-Roberts, Jennifer,
I am quite concerned that there is no other responsible person to answer this request.
I understand CASA has over 800 employees, yet there is no alternate made available to the public to process FOI requests.
Yours sincerely,
Rob Cumming

Hi Rob,
Regarding your request, unfortunately the law isn't on your side in this case.
The Department has 30 days from the time you've made your request to make a decision. When they ask you to pay a charge, that timeframe is suspended until either you make payment or appeal it and they overturn the charge. They may extend the timeframe for a range of reasons (they should tell you about this).
Also, just because you pay a fee it doesn't mean you will get access to all the documents. They may hide some information (and they seem to suggest in their letter that they will).
Hope I've helped explain the process, if you've got any questions about the FOI process then please leave an annotation and our community will help out.

Hi Rob, you should be able to select "Write a Reply" down the bottom, and then be given the option to reply to the Main FOI Contact email address. I would suggest doing this as it will go to CASA's FOI inbox rather than directly to the person who is now on leave.
