How much was spent on a new $5 note?

We're waiting for Laura Clark to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Department of the Treasury,
I heard on the news that an obscene amount of money was spent on the redesigning of the $5.00 note. Who authorized this ridiculous amount during a really hard time economically. Is it true that it was over half a million dollars? who is responsible for this misuse of public money??

Yours faithfully,

L P Clark

Dear Ms Clark

We are not able to process your request under the FOI Act as you are seeking responses to questions, not documents. The FOI Act allows a person to request documents.

We can further advise that even if you submit a request for documents, the Treasury is not the relevant agency for your request. Banknote design is the responsibility of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). If you intend to submit a request for documents we suggest you send it to the RBA. The questions below are likewise best directed to the RBA.

Kind regards,
