Your FOI request - FOI 21-211 - Notice of intention to refuse

I refer to your request to Department of Infrastructure, Transport,
Regional Development and Communication (the Department) received on 11
June 2021 via the Right to Know website.  I note your request seeks access
to:

…. a dollar figure for the last 5 financial years general ledger for the
department.

The FOI Act contains two 'practical refusal reasons'. The first being,
that processing a request 'would substantially and unreasonably divert the
resources of the agency from its other operation' (paragraph 24AA(1)(a) of
the FOI Act). An agency may also refuse a request if it does not 'provide
such information concerning the document as is reasonably necessary to
enable a responsible officer of the agency to identify' the document in
question (paragraph 24AA(1)(b) of the FOI Act).

I am of the view that, in its current form, your request is unclear and
does not provide sufficient information for us to identify the document
(or documents) you are seeking. I therefore consider that your request
does not satisfy the requirements of paragraph 15(2)(b) of the FOI Act
(identification of documents) and a practical refusal reason exists under
paragraph 24AA(1)(b) of the FOI Act. The purpose of this notice is to
advise you (as required under section 24AB of the FOI Act) that I consider
that a 'practical refusal reason' exists under section 24AA of the FOI Act
and that I am considering refusing access to the documents in the form
requested, in accordance with section 24 of the FOI Act.

request will be deemed withdrawn.
