Food safety inspections for the years 2014, 2015, 2016
Dear Local Council,
Can you please provide me with the number of food safety inspections carried out in your area annually, for the last three years?
How many warning were issued each year and how many fines each year?
What percentage of all food outlets did the council inspect each year?
Have any outlets been shut down for non-compliance and if so what for and how many?
What were the worst offences/biggest fines for each year?
Yours faithfully,
Nigel Gladstone

Dear Nigel
AlburyCity received your request for information as per your email below.
AlburyCity has determined your request to be an Informal Access to
Information request under the Government Information (Public Access) Act
2009 (GIPA Act) and therefore attracts no application or processing fees.
The following information is based on financial year. Food inspections
carried out in the Albury local government area (including routine,
reinspections, complaints and all risk levels) were 521 during 2013/2014,
413 during 2014/2015, and 306 during 2015/2016.
AlburyCity issued five official warning letters in 2013/2014, one official
warning letter in 2014/2015, and zero in 2015/2016. One fine was issued in
2014/2015. During 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 no fines were issued.
The percentage of inspections conducted on medium and high risk food
outlets were 100% in 2013/2014, 84% in 2014/2015, and 80% in 2015/2016. No
food outlets were shut down during the three year period.
The fine issued in 2014/2015 was for $880 for failing to comply with the
Foods Standards Code. More specifically, the fine related to cleaning and
pest control issues that were not adequately managed.
I trust the information provided meets your request for information.
Yours faithfully
