Lauren Martin

Dear FOI,

Thanks you for your letter, but I do not wish to revise or withdraw my FOI request.

Rather I request that my FOI be considered on its merits – and not in conjunction with other requests, made by other people about other matters under DIAC's purview. This would meet the practical requirements of which you write. It is not valid to deem that the information I seek – e.g., how it came to be that a Serco staff member was assaulted – is "substantially the same" as any other incident involving any other person within our national immigration detention system. This is a single incident involving specific individuals. Responding with the information I seek is, in its scope, within the department's practical capabilities

I advise that I would not wish to speak for others in the matter of these FOIs you mistakenly deem to be "substantially the same", nor would l like others to speak for me in this matter.

I understand from your letter that my request, as made, would fit into the time frame allowed under DIAC's own guidelines and I repeat my request for the information. Please reconsider, or advise me how I can appeal the refusal you say you intend to make.

Yours sincerely,

Lauren Martin
