Dear Brisbane City Council,

I request to see the total number of fines given to Lime scooter users in the Brisbane City Council area from the period November 16, 2018 - 15 January, 2019. I would also like to see this number from the period 15 January, 2019 - 15 February, 2019.

Hi Elliot,

Brisbane City Council is covered by the Right to Information Act in Queensland, which is different to the FOI Act for Commonwealth Agencies.

Unlike the Commonwealth Act, generally you are required to include an application fee with your request when making requests under state law. More information on how to make a valid request to Brisbane City Council can be found here

Thank you for your email.

I can confirm for you that Council’s consent specifically relates to the placement of the Lime Scooters on Council land, not the use of the Scooters. In relation to your query regarding the total number of fines given to Lime scooter users, Council has issued zero fines to users of Scooters in the Brisbane City Council area.

Should Council receive complaints about the placement of the Scooters, further enforcement action may be taken. This can include, but is not limited to, oral directions or infringements issued under Council’s Public Land and Council Assets Local Law 2014. Should complaints be received about the use of the scooters, this would be referred to Queensland Police for their investigation.
