Financial Payments made to the Mental Health Foundation of Australia
Dear National Mental Health Commission,
The Mental Health Foundation of Australia (ABN 81006003363) has listed the
Australian Government as a Gold Sponsor of the foundation.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 I am seeking any documents that
evidence a list of dates and amounts of money that have been provided to
the MHFA from the 1 July 2019 until the date this FOI request is received
is processed
which includes the government department name, and the purpose of the
funding, if there was one.
This funding includes any financial payments made to the MHFA, including,
but not limited to any form of financial assistance, grants, sponsorship, donation
or other like transaction.
Yours faithfully,
Simon Sturgen
Dear Simon,
Thank you for your email.
The National Mental Health Commission has a national remit to provide
insight, advice and evidence on ways to continuously improve Australia’s
mental health and suicide prevention systems, and act as a catalyst for
change to achieve system improvements. There are three main strands to the
Commission’s work: monitoring and reporting on Australia’s mental health
and suicide prevention systems; providing independent advice to government
and the community; and acting as a catalyst for change. The Commission is
not a funding body and we do not have an ongoing grants program.
You may need to contact the Department of Health who may be able to better
advise you. Their contact details can be found here:

The Commission acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout
Australia and their continuing connection to land,
sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures and to
their elders both past and present.
