Dear Reserve Bank of Australia,

This is a Freedom of Information Request

On the Reserve Bank of Australia's "Reimagine The Five" website (https://banknotes.rba.gov.au/reimagineth...), the following sentence is included:
"A final theme will be chosen in the second half of 2024 and then turned into an artwork that celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and history".

I request access to the final theme chosen, and any other documents, minutes, or agendas relating to the process for selecting the "final theme" talked about being finalised by the end of 2024.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Pentland

FOI, Reserve Bank of Australia

Dear Mr Pentland,

I refer to your recent request seeking access to documents that relate to the ‘final theme chosen (for the new $5 note), and any other documents, minutes, or agendas relating to the process for selecting the "final theme".

In terms of the FOI Act 1982 I confirm receipt of your request below and advise that processing of it commenced on 30 January 2025. Please be advised that, consistent with the provisions of the Information Publication Scheme, the Bank’s policy is to release all documents provided to applicants under the FOI Act 1982 on the Bank’s FOI disclosure log close to the same time they are provided to the applicant. The publication of any FOI related documents on our website will also be notified to the Bank’s RSS feed subscriber list.

Also please note that in the current environment, we intend to redact (in terms of section 22) the names and/or identifying material of junior officers (below Deputy Head of Department level) and email and phone contact details for all staff from any documents designated for release in relation to your request. If you have any issues with this intention, please let us know.

ADVICE OF PLANNED PUBLIC RELEASE OF INFORMATION AND SEEKING AGREEMENT TO WITHDRAW REQUEST

I am able to advise that work on making the final theme known to the public is well advanced and intended to take place soon (by mid-March).

In this context, we are hopeful you would be willing to withdraw your FOI request in anticipation of the information you are seeking being made available within weeks of the due date for a response to your request (28 February 2025). Of course, if after seeing that information upon release (and we will share a link to it with you), there remained any gaps in what you are seeking, you could lodge a fresh request at that time or get in touch with our external communications team to seek further information.

Could you please advise me as soon as possible if you are willing to withdraw your request.

Yours sincerely
