Dear Mr Fairless
Your Freedom of Information Request
I refer to your application dated 19 September 2014 in which you seek access to documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
Upon consideration of your request, the AFP is of the view that your request will take longer than 30 days to process. The delay is regrettable, however, due to a significant increase in the volume of applications at this time and the absence of key personnel to assist with the processing of requests for information, the AFP will be unable to finalise this matter within the 30 day time frame. Measures have been undertaken to source additional staff to assist with processing your request, however, it will not be possible to advise you of a decision by 18 October 2014.
Accordingly, pursuant to section 15AA of the Act, I seek your agreement to extend the period to notify you of a decision to 17 November 2104.
I would be grateful if you would advise this office in writing of your agreement to the proposed extension of time.
If you have any queries in relation to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact this office.
Yours sincerely,
JACQUELINE ELLERY

Dear Mr Fairless
I refer to your request of 19 September 2014.
Unfortunately, you request could not be finalised by 18 October 2014,
noting you did not respond to our request for an extension of time.
The AFP has sought an extension of time from the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner. The Information Commissioner has granted an
extension of time until 3 December 2014.
The delay in providing you with a decision prior to this date is
regrettable, however, we thank you for your patience in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
JACQUELINE ELLERY
