The Australian Security Intelligence Agency (ASIO) and documents that
originated with ASIO are exempt from the operation of the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (see section 7).
ASIO records can be accessed in accordance with the Archives Act 1983
through the National Archives of Australia. All applications for access
under the Archives Act must be made through the National Archives – more
